Couple of days ago I read Blogilates‘ post about body image. Many people think that loving your body means you don’t have to do anything about your body, eat and drink unhealthy food/drink everyday, not working out etc. I think that’s not right, I think that loving your body means taking care of your body and stop hating on its tiny imperfections. No one is perfect and it’s okay. That’s what makes us human.
I’m not saying that you have to be very healthy and workout like crazy. No no no, everything has to come in moderation. Everyone has different body types and that’s okay! That’s what makes us unique as individual. Everyone is different. What’s not okay is shaming others just because they’re different.

I have always have this petite skinny body type ever since I was a kid. It’s hard for me to gain weight though I eat a lot. Some people may wish for that kind of body and some may not but hey you just can’t win. Since I am considered as small and can barely gain weight, people usually comment on it.
“You’re too skinny”
“Did you actually eat?”
“Ew too skinny and boney like that is ugly”
“Men don’t like bones. Only dogs like bones” – And seriously you guys, it hurts me when people say this.
Or many usually say this:
“Yeah enjoy that body while you can once you reach age of [input any number here]/get married/get pregnant/have kids, you’ll get fat”
Wow wow wow slow down people! Why do you suddenly hate me and curse me like that for having this body? But guys, it doesn’t stop there. When I actually gain weight, people will also comment on it
“You gain weight! You eat too much!”
“Ew you eat way too much you look like pig”
Wow when I’m skinny I got bashed. When I gain weight, I also got bashed. Hahaha I just can’t win. Oh wait wait, I have another. So as you know that I like to work out, and you know what people actually say?
“Why are you working out? You’re skinny already? You wanna be bone that bad?”
“Stop working out”
“Muscle on girls look bad. No guys like it”
“You’re going to get bulky because you do weight lifting”
Yep. I know many of you got those comments from others. You guys, just because people workout, doesn’t mean they want to lose weight. I personally want to have more muscle and taking care of my body so I can be fit, have a lean body and be healthy. People have their own reasons why they workout. And I do not do it for others, I do it for myself. Also, I’m a girl and I won’t get bulky as I don’t have testosterone like guys and I don’t use steroid.
Everyone is beautiful. Every body type is beautiful. Everyone has their own preferences and that’s okay. What’s not okay is shaming others because they’re different from you
See? You just can’t win. But again, it’s about loving YOUR body and be happy with your body and your life. Don’t listen to others about it. Remember, everyone is beautiful.
